Z-UP Residential building in Stuttgart

A unique complex of offices and housing accommodation has been built in Stuttgart that retain both applications as structurally separate entities. The building’s name derives from its plan view (it resembles the letter ‘Z’ in shape) and its location: it has been constructed on a slope.

In order to realise the original design, the project team chose FRANK Egcobox® balcony connectors because of the specific technical qualities in relation to the construction, together with excellent cost effectiveness.

Egcobox® P transfers the moment and shear forces that exist in cantilevered structural elements such as balconies. As a result of its integrated 80mm PS insulation layer, the connection minimises the heat loss from the building that would normally be present in an uninsulated external structural element.

The high level of customer satisfaction was achieved through a combination of technical support, the quality of the products supplied, and the consistent delivery service.
